AUGUSTINE AT LARMGALLERI

Exhibition Tales of Another Identity April 25 – May 18 2013

In Tales of Another Identity, at Larmgallerithe focus is on interfaces where human self awareness and -realisation are in contrast both to other individuals and to society’s expectations, rules and socio-political reality. The aim is a critical examination of human frailty (mortality), self-image and awareness of own habitus, versus society’s understanding and perception of gender, identity and morality.A fundamental question is how identity and gender can be brought into play in relation to the conventions which decide, for example, social norms, standards and criteria. An issue which stimulates the complex ways of thinking and insights that arise when we are exposed to works that explore the conflict between society’s agreed rules, our moral code and man’s basically animal nature.
